Contemporary hand-knotted rugs, for rooms that want texture and quality without a classical Persian medallion in the middle of the floor. Everything in this collection is still genuinely hand-knotted or hand-woven wool. Only the drawing is modern.

What contemporary means here

Plain and near-plain fields where the wool itself does the work, with subtle striation and colour movement across the surface. Raised-pile and carved designs that read as texture from a distance and only resolve into pattern up close. Loose abstract and painterly drawing. Simple geometry: grids, bands, oversized lattices. And transitional pieces that keep a traditional bone structure but strip out the ornament and mute the palette.

Colour

Mostly quiet. Charcoal and grey, sand, ivory, oatmeal, sage, dusty blue and soft rust, in low-contrast combinations designed to sit under modern furniture rather than compete with it.

One thing worth knowing

Plain rugs are less forgiving than busy patterned ones. A large open field shows footprints, seams and shading more honestly, so wool quality and weaving consistency matter more here, not less. Everything in this collection is hand-knotted or hand-woven, never machine-made and never tufted, which is exactly why these hold up where a cheap flat modern rug does not.
