Afghan- Handmade in Afghanistan
These particular rugs are all handmade by Afghan refugees in the surrounding villages of Peshawar, the Capital of N.W.F.P., Pakistan which is bordering Afghanistan. They use all-natural fibers, soft, clean, and finest shiny wool on the pile as well as on foundation with vegetable dye in the construction of the piece. These rugs are antique look similar to those originals of the 18th century Kazak rugs.
Afghan Kilim- Handmade in Afghanistan
Afghan Kilims are usually made by Afghan tribes in the northern areas of the country bordering Russia. They are made in the same style as Russian Sumak Kilims.
Afghan Kilims are also made in Baluchistan located in the southwest of the country. These Kilim are made in the same style as Persian Kilim.
Afghan Kilims are usually made with wool and have special charm and originality using dark colors.
War Rugs- Handmade in Afghanistan
This is an unusual war rug different than many other rugs you've seen. Design is showing the weapon of wartime like tanks, choppers, guns, and ruffles. War rugs are one of the most interesting rugs ever made. These rugs are designed in memory of the invasion of Afghanistan by the Soviets. Most of the war rugs are designed with ammunitions such as Choppers, Tanks, rifles, and grenades.

The designs follow the original 19th-century Napoleon II Aubusson carpet, in great detail. They are executed in a recreated Aubusson workshop in China under the supervision of French designers and craftsmen.

Mahal- Soltanabad Handmade in India

Nepalese/Nepali/Tibet-Handmade in India

Afshar-Handmade in Iran
Afshar rugs are woven on horizontal looms in Nomadic tradition. These rugs are not woven for commercial distribution, but for the nomad’s own usage. In addition to rugs, Afshar tribes make tent bags, salt bags, saddlebags, and other nomadic weavings and textiles.
They herd their own sheep, spin the wool, dye the wool, and weave the rugs. Using a Turkish symmetrical knot, the rugs are principal of wool pile on a wool foundation of warp and weft. They are mostly geometric in design and incorporate animals and birds figures.
Afshar rugs are highly sought after by decorators and westerners due to their great appeal and versatility. They run a range of quality from primitive to fine. They are very durable and will endure lifetimes of use.
Ardebil-Handmade in Iran
Ardabil rugs are an example of the melding of different types of textile production. They can even have gold or silver woven into their design, as with rugs of the neighboring local, Tabriz.

Herati- Mahal. Handmade in Iran

MAHI design is used for over a century in Iran and in India. Nowadays, Indian rug producers use MAHI design on fine wool imported from New Zealand and make them dense and tight with 200 KPSI using an up-to-date color combination. These rugs are made with 3/8” of height in pile and are expected to last for generations
Persian Heriz--Handmade in Iran
Heriz is a small town located northwest of Iran, which is renowned and revered for decorative and mostly geometric-patterned rugs.
Although the Heriz rugs are not woven with a high knot count, nowadays the Hertz rugs are valuable for their look and colors, as well as their charming characters.
The older and antique Heriz rugs, even in worn conditions, are still among the most wanted antique decorative rugs; they have high value and are very rare.

The designs are very traditional to the weaver’s family or left to the weaver’s imagination. Due to Husseinabad’s proximity to the Caucasus region, there are also Caucasian motifs seen in these rugs.
Both the Persian symmetrical knot and the Turkish symmetrical knot are used. Many of the rugs are woven on cotton warp and weft but there is also a great number woven on wool warp and weft. The wool is frequently hand spun and dyed with vegetable dyes.

Persian Esfahan-Wool Rug -Handmade in Iran

Fine Isfahan- Wool and Silk Handmade in Iran
Isfahan (Esfahan) carpets are among the best Persian carpets ever produced and they are both durable and decorative. The new Isfahan rugs usually come in beige or light blue. In some cases, many colors are utilized for disparity including shades of red.
The designs are exquisite. They are elaborately drawn and precisely executed patterns of floral shapes and exotic birds.

Iran-Handmade in Karaja
Karaja rugs are a wonderful addition to your home. The pile of these rugs is thick lustrous wool, handspun from local sheep. The wool is grown on sheep grazing at high altitudes in cold weather. Mashad --Kashmar-Handmade in Iran

It takes many years to achieve the designation of a master weaver and It may take a Master weaver several months to several years to complete a single carpet. Carpets from this region are capable of lasting several lifetimes. Westerners and designers value them for their harmonious designs and versatility.

Kazvin-Handmade in Iran

The carpets woven in the cities such as Mashad, Mood, Bijan, and Kashmar are woven from graphs. They are hand-knotted by master weavers and may take several months to years to successfully complete one rug. It also takes many years to achieve the designation of a master weaver.
Mood rugs range in size from small mats to room size. They are mainly finely executed floral carpets with beautiful central medallions. In Mood carpets, it is possible to see the influence of Mosque architecture in the design of the rug. This is particularly true of the central medallion of some of the rugs.

Persian Nahavand-Handmade in Iran

Persian Nain-Handmade in Iran
The rugs from Nain, a desert city in central Iran are among the finest hand-knotted carpets produced in modern Iran.
It takes many years of apprenticeship for a weaver to achieve the designation of a master weaver and only master wears can weave Nain rugs. It would take many months or even several years for a master weaver to complete a single Nain rug, depending on the fineness of knots and size.
The knots in the Nain rug contain some 250-500 knots or more in square inches. These rugs are woven with the Persian symmetrical knot and are constructed of wool and silk mixture pile woven on cotton foundation.
Nain is neighboring Isfahan, and for this very reason, the designs follow the famous Isfahan, influenced by Shah Abbas’s design. They usually include skillfully drawn flowers, foliages, and vines.
The color palette used in Nain rugs is kept simple and limited to variations of blue, beige, and shades of brown. Nain rugs mostly come in blue, beige, and rarely in gorgeous red.
Persian Nain-Habibian-Handmade in Iran
The rugs from Nain, a desert city in central Iran are among the finest hand-knotted carpets produced in modern Iran.

Senneh has located about the northwest of Iran, a suburb of the capital city of Sanandaj, the province of Kurdistan. The rugs are finely woven, and contain intricate, tiny Herati and both in repeating rows.
A few examples contain a pole medallion or diamonds. The delicate designs are achieved by the use of curved wefts. The most distinctive design is with geometric shapes usually in contrasting colors, with interlacing geometric motifs.

The red dye is obtained from madder, the yellow with weld and madder, the beige with barley, the brown with the husk of walnuts, and the blue with indigo.
